Welcome to Pledge Week!
We’ll be spending today, and the next six days, on why you need to subscribe to No Dowd About It.
Now, if you are a subscriber, thanks much. But too many of you aren’t. And that’s got to stop.
The chart above depicts the status of NDAI’s most-active readers. Right now, 5.4 percent of the four- and five-star audience — as measured by Substack, not me — are subscribers. The rest (that’s a whopping 94.6 percent) are not.
Freemium folks, just think of what you’re missing! Yes, I post a no-paywall piece from time to time, but you don’t have access to something like 85 percent of my content.
And a subscription is so dang cheap! For less than a quarter a day, you get Dowd’s Daily Download, the weekly column, and Friday’s wildly popular feature Bureaucrats Behaving Badly.
If all you “freeloaders” (sorry, couldn’t resist) upgraded to premium, NDAI would transform from a ramen-noodle-eating startup to a real, honest-to-gosh business. (And I’d start looking to hire that research assistant I’ve always dreamed about. That’s real — i.e., unsubsidized — economic development.)
So for our inaugural Pledge Week, please become a subscriber. Today! Sorry, I can’t promise a tote bag, but I can promise high-quality content for people who support human decency, human freedom, and human progress.
Tomorrow we’ll explore “The Making of an Anti-Collectivist” — exactly what events and influences made D. Dowd Muska who he is. I promise, it will be entertaining.
Best,
DDM
