An excellent mini-museum in Winchester, Virginia. All about George’s exploits before he became a Founder.
Shenandoah National Park — just think, in seven years and seven months, it’ll all be gone.
When in Asheville, be sure to avoid Vortex Doughnuts.
Sadly, the Lookouts fell to the Trash Pandas, 4-2.
My first visit. Even more wonderful than I imagined.
The brother-in-law called an audible and took us to The Hermitage. Glad he did! I’ve never been satisfied with my grasp of the Jacksonian Era. (Could do a two-hour lecture, tops.)
I don’t know if you know this, but Dolly Parton is very big in Nashville.
“Ain’t but three things in this world that’s worth a solitary dime, but old dogs, and children, and watermelon wine.”
Stood in the studio where Roy recorded the song. (Didn’t see a single candy-colored clown, though.)
Exact quote, from a soccer mom: “That looks like Will Ferrell back there.” We are frighteningly close to the end of The Republic.
This marred an otherwise enjoyable visit to the Tennessee State Museum. (Hell, even The Guardian admitted that “Gore grew up not in Tennessee but in what is now the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Embassy Row in Washington DC, attending an élite prep school and spending summers on the tobacco farm in his father’s home state.”)
Love Buc-ees! Trips to MD Anderson were always a little bit better after a stop at the Katy location. The Bastrop location outside Austin is a perennial favorite as well.
Buc-ee's rocks! We love stopping at any Buc-ee's we see. We always stop at one in Terrell, TX when we drive to and from Baton Rouge. Fun shopping, good food, cool coffee bar, wall of jerky, clean bathrooms and fun snacks. My first experience with Buc-ee's was November 2020. Coming from the crazy ass lock downs in New Mexico, I felt like I walked back in time to 2019. It was a normal crowded place, it was awesome!
Check out this funny video about Buc-ee's from Babylon Bee.
