I grew up with tons of poor people. They weren’t noble. They didn’t work very hard. A lot of ‘em were douches and alcoholics and racists and stuff like that. There was nothing noble about — they weren’t fucking poor and proud and hardworking. They didn’t work weekends, they didn’t work nights, they didn’t have any entrepreneurial spirit, they weren’t self-motivated. I didn’t know — I never saw any of that. They were people who sat around and were kinda angry about their lot in life and never did anything to change it and did a ton of externalizing.
